This program reports the amount of traffic, in bytes and packets, traversing a network interface within a given time period. The default time period is one second, and may be overridden with the -i option. Additionally, a PCAP-style filter string may be specified after the interface, which results in the program only reporting the amount of traffic matching that filter string.
The code is C/C++ and aims to be compact, requiring libpcap as the only third-party library. It has been tested with GCC 3.4 and 4.1, and Clang/LLVM 2.7 on FreeBSD and GNU/Linux, and on 32- and 64-bit and little- and big-endian processors.
